Death Benefit #310-A - Dean Reed

KENTON — Funeral services for A. Dean Reed will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, February 24, 2017 at The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton with Rev. Scott Johnson officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at Grove Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday, February 23, 2017 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.

He died at 9:57 A.M. on Monday, February 20, 2017 at his residence. He was born July 17, 1926 in Hardin County to the late Etta (Hull) and John Reed Sr. On October 19, 1952 he married Dorothy Bushong and she survives in Kenton.

Also surviving are a sister; Ferne Ballinger of Elida, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister; Isabelle Stableton, and 3 brothers; Donald Reed, Joh Reed Jr., and Richard Reed.

Dean was an Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the local Kenton Elks, Moose lodges, and the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union #776. Dean was also a member of the St. Johns United Church of Christ in Kenton. He was an avid OSU fan, especially the Men's Basketball team. He would often attend their games, but when he couldn't attend he would definitely watch them on T.V. Dean was known as the neighborhood helping hand, that would do anything to help a neighbor in need.
